I'm not very patient, it causes me all sorts of problems especially with projects and my health. This panda required patience and lots of it so it was a challenge in that sense. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it, even with waiting on it to dry three times. I'm really pleased with how it has turned out. I find it so satisfying dropping paint into wet areas and watching it spread out. Watercolours have a life and will of their own. Talking about life, I still love painting eyes.
Last night I couldn't sleep. I eventually got up reluctantly and went downstairs for a cup of tea and a cherry bakewell... or two. I ended picking up my treasured sketch book and attempted a life drawing self-portrait, as you do at 2 a.m. I have been working hard over the past 2-3 years on self esteem, being compassionate towards myself and accepting. Yet, body acceptance is a long way off as I couldn't bring myself to take a photo of myself naked. I ended up drawing from what I thought I'd look like under my clothes from the position I chose; from above as thats more flattering. H
This is all I'm willing to show. Thank goodness there are far more brave people than I who are willing to pose naked for art. I love life drawing and I feel it is important that marginalised groups are represented. What I will tell you is that Eddie liked the drawing. I felt quite reassured by his reaction to it.
